"the study of place has significance in reeducating people in the art of living well where they are." - David Orr
In the summer, both adults and children are given the opportunity to
experience Marin's biodiversity, through the practice of ancient art forms. There are outstanding opportunities for exploration into the natural realms. In both the camp and workshops students are exposed to plants they might see every day, and are given the opportunity to unlock their secrets, through creating natural dyes, and composing sample books of dyed fibers - from hemp to locally-produced organic wool.
The summer camp for children goes farther by studying ancient art forms, such as weaving, braiding, and papermaking. The underlying goal in these workshops and camps is for every participant to receive knowledge through the work of their hands.
